How many is too many? And a rugby special
How many podcasts are too many podcasts? That's a question we've been mulling during the current hiatus. On the one hand they are easier to do and the number of people downloading and listening have shot up. On the other, some of our listeners are saying they feel a bit swamped, and that they're not listening to all of them like they used to, back when we did one a week. We've been doing four a week which feels a lot and my sense is that two or three a week might be ok, if they're sufficiently differentiated; a long form interview on Tuesday and a news review of the week on Friday perhaps.
We'd welcome your views on this, and on the types of podcasts you'd be interested in hearing.
Rugby is different
Every sport faces similar challenges - covid, media landscape, changing fans, digital roadmap etc - but each comes to these problems in a different way, shaped by their team and event ownerships, calendar, structure, culture and political and leadership incentives.
Rugby is interesting because it contains so many of these themes, and you can also throw in the impact of private equity's role in its near future.
We've done three rugby related pods over the last couple of weeks.
Here they are, with links. Enjoy.
